Firstly, Safeguarding Our Clients Because We Care...
Why Should
I Have a Skin Allergy Test?
Our Kay and Kompany Salon Endeavors to Use Products With the Lowest Possible Risk
of an
Allergic Reaction
However, it is important to note that any number of things, even natural or Organic ingredients,
can cause allergies.
This is why, it is essential that all New Colour
or Perm Clients
take part in a skin allergy patch test. Skin patch tests
have
to be carried out at least
24/48 hours prior
to your hair colour or perm appointment.
A skin test only takes a minute; it is carried out in the salon during your no-obligation hair colour or perm consultation.
How Do We Perform a Skin Test?
We apply a small amount of colour or perm lotion if you're having a perm behind the ear or, on the arm; once colour or perm is applied, we will then give you instructions to gently wash the colour or perm solution off approximately 1 hour after it has been applied.
If there is no reaction, i.e. no inflammation of the skin area then all should be safe to go ahead with haircolour or perm services.
Please Note
24/48
hour
allergy
skin test is required on colouring
and perming for all New Clients because we care about your health and safety.
If this is inconvenient, clients may sign a release consent form which will release our salon from any skin allergy liabilities - (Although, this is not advisable because a reaction to a haircolour or perm is extremely nasty, better to be safe than sorry!).
Why Colour Your Hair?
Stunning Hand Painted
Blonde Balayage
The science of hair colour has developed over the years to bring us more vibrant long lasting shades.
The right hair colour can enhance your style and create the illusion of texture and dimension. You are no longer restricted to shades of blonde, brown or black.
You can experiment by blending together different hair colours and techniques
such as Ombre, Balayage, Dip-dye and foil hi-lights, that match your favorite
hairstyle, make a
statement about your personality or perhaps even hide the odd grey hair.
Why not start by choosing a colour that is close to your own shade or use a temporary colour that washes out after a few weeks?

Why Choose Organic Hair Colours?
Our Muswell Hill, London N10 Kay and Kompany salon recommends and uses the Organic Hair Colour Systems because it creates beautiful colours without damaging or comprising the condition of your hair, the way other products can.
This is made possible by the unique ingredients
of Organic Colour Systems. The risk of an allergic reaction and scalp irritation from hair colour is greatly reduced by the lack of potentially harsh and damaging chemical additives such as ammonia, resorcinol and parabens.
This organic range uses the lowest possible level of paraphenylenediamine (colour pigments), the colour is far less likely to stain the skin and the risk of pigment absorption is greatly reduced. Instead of using a traditional ammonia base, we use a natural moisturising base and a gentle pH adjuster.
Our Organic hair colours contain natural soothing, healing and antioxidant ingredients such as certified organic orange peel, grapefruit seed, comfrey root, Aloe Vera leaf and Roman chamomile. The colours are designed to maintain your hair’s natural pH, protein and moisture levels.
Organic hair colours help to preserve your hair’s condition, keeping your hair naturally vibrant, shiny and if used in conjunction with the Organic Colour Systems home care products, your colour will last longer and keep.
Our Organic Colour Systems hair colours are free from ammonia, resorcinol and parabens.
Why We Use Organic Hair Colouring

Need To Know More in Depth? - The Science Behind Organic Hair Colours

> The hair colours contain no ammonia,
formaldehyde, propylene glycol, or resorcinol and is the most natural and organic permanent hair colour available worldwide.
> Activators contain only pharmaceutical grade hydrogen peroxide, which is the same peroxide used in eye drops.
> Some of the hair colours include mineral pigments. If mineral pigments are included in the colour, only the smallest amounts (an average of 00.006) are used.
> Our hair colours employ only the purest and most natural virgin minerals available including HC Yellow 2, HC Red 3, 4- Chlororesorcinol, 2-Amino-4-Hydroxyethylamino-Anisole, 4-Amino-Hydroxytoluene, M- Aminophenol, 2-Methly Resorcinol, Phenylenediamine, P-Aminophenol.
> Chlororesorcinol and Methyl Resorcinol is a different compound than Resorcinol (which is highly toxic). Resorcinol is not used in any of our colour products.
> Monoethanolamine and Ethanolamine are coconut derived organic chemical compounds, which are far less corrosive than ammonia or ammonia hydroxide and are used at levels below 00.004 in Organic Colour Systems.
> Organic hair colours pH is 9 and Naturlite’s pH is 10 while ammoniated colour and bleach lighteners have a pH of 11.5.
> The conditioning and moisturising function is fulfilled by Hydrolysed Wheat Protein, which also helps to strengthen hair.

How Do Hair Colours and Dyes Work?

There are many types of
hair colour products; permanent, semi-permanent or temporary and they have different effects on the hair.
The formulas are designed to enter the hair's outer layer and gradually penetrate deep into the inner layer or cortex, which eventually changes the hair colour.
We can control how deep these penetrate depending on what hair colour and condition you want to achieve.
The deeper the colour penetrates the more after-care and sun protection you
need. This is so that the colour lasts longer and your hair stays in great condition.
Can You Colour Your Hair Yourself?

Of course, there are lots of DIY colouring kits on the market, but they don’t always produce the desired results.
Without some care, they can easily go wrong.
Poorly done home colouring can be embarrassing and damaging to your hair.
Trained
hairdressers are always a better option and can cost a lot less than you might imagine.
